Designed byRoom11, the Tunnel is an off-grid retreat in Tasmania where the interior is a metaphor for the rugged coastline it overlooks. As much art as architecture, the project's defining feature is the dual lightwell installations, framing the landscape and casting shifting bands of colour and light across the interiors. With light and weather conditions in constant flux, every day in the Tunnel offers a unique experience.
Beyond the spectacle, the interior shows a refined simplicity, guided by Scandinavian design principles, Danish furniture, and functional minimalism. Against this backdrop, Buster + Punch's steel details feel native and organic.
