Through the Lens: Ben Nott ACS - 'Don't Be Tied to the Manual' |
In our inaugural 'Through The Lens' Article, we profile Ben Nott ACS. His incredible journey proves there's no single path to cinematographic excellence. Growing up in the Queensland bush, Ben developed the practical problem-solving skills that would later define his approach behind the camera. "I was 23 and had never taken a picture." But that would soon change when a mysterious locked door in his share house turned out to lead to a darkroom - watching his first image appear in the developer tray was pure magic. Today he's an Emmy-nominated and three-time Milli Award winning cinematographer whose work spans from 'The Company' to 'Nautilus', always guided by one principle: "Don't be tied to the manual." From film to digital, spherical to anamorphic - Ben's adaptability and willingness to experiment has shaped a remarkable career.
