IWD Film Fund Competition | Finisterre

Women Of The
Sea Film Fund

In partnership with London Surf / Film Festival, we're celebrating International Women's Day with the return of our filmmaker competition, celebrating the bravery and fortitude shown by women of the sea.

Open to all women filmmakers, we invite you to submit a pitch that champions women making waves and taking their space in the lineup. The winning entry will receive a £10,000 grant to help make their project, and the final film will be premiered at LS/FF 2025.

LUCY SMALL + MADDIE MEDDINGS

In celebration of International Women's Day we spoke with two female filmmaking powerhouses.

Lucy Small is a surfer, journalist and activist fighting for equal pay and representation for women in competitive surfing, and Maddie Meddings is a longtime friend of Finisterre, a mainstay of our shoot crews and part of a fresh crop of talented female filmmakers. We sat down with the pair to discuss the realities of the industry and discuss their latest collaborative film project, "Ciebo".
