Still the gold standard of mistake fares. This one covered 10 nonstop routes from Atlanta to Central and South America, with fares as low as $63 roundtrip on Delta. The kind of deal that turns "someday" trips into "wanna leave next week?" trips.

*Sigh* We love a fare war. When United competed head-on with Delta out of the Twin Cities, prices to Taipei dropped further than we'd ever tracked, more than $100 cheaper than the previous record. 

Hawaii rarely goes on sale, and it especially doesn't go on sale from the East Coast. This deal broke that rule three times over, with best-ever, sub-$300 roundtrip prices out of Charlotte, Philly, and Dallas.

Our travel experts first got a whiff of this deal with a $224 roundtrip fare from Chicago. Amazing, yes, but not worthy of our top 10 list. About an hour later, this $114 price dropped from Minneapolis and our jaws hit the floor. This was the start of a two-year trend of silly-good fares for last-minute travel on over-stocked (high-capacity) routes to Europe. We originally labeled it a mistake fare (and it likely was), but then we started thinking there may have been more to it. 

Fiji is notoriously not cheap or straightforward to get to. When a nonstop route from Dallas to Fiji on Fiji Airways launched in late 2024, it made it quite a bit easier to get to. This sub-$600 fare a year after the launch (the lowest we'd tracked since day one) satisfied the other half of it. A reminder that new long-haul routes can often be your best shot at paradise for less.

Ten years (and counting) is a long time in Cheap Flights Land, so there are plenty more where these came from.

Top points and miles deals

Available for travel on Finnair if you booked through partner Iberia, this fare had tickets pricing out at about 9,300 points each way (19,000 roundtrip). It's a pretty solid rate for traveling with points from the US to Europe, even if you were flying economy. But this got you into the front, fancy part of the plane for the same points-cost to boot.

Delta SkyMiles isn't the best for everyday award redemption, but one thing we can confidently say is that they have access to amazing flash sales. Another great thing about this deal: It wasn't exclusive to the West Coast hubs, which you'll typically see with transpacific flights. Tons of mid-sized and East Coast airports got a piece of the pie, too, including Indianapolis, Kansas City, and New Orleans. 

Nonstop to the City of Light at the beginning of peak season? Oui oui. And getting there on points and miles, you're basically locking it in for free. Savvy travelers know that once you're on the Old Continent, you can get pretty much anywhere, like Barcelona, Amsterdam, or Copenhagen, for cheap. 

Points deals. Points deals everywhere. From Seattle to Miami, Philly to LA, and plenty of smaller airports in between, like Chattanooga, Missoula, and Savannah, this redemption made Seoul reachable for nearly everyone, for a fraction of the usual points.
