One small mark, and why it matters | ||
|
A shoe can leave the workshop perfect in every way that counts and still carry a scuff from handling, or a crease from being tried on, or a shade of finish that did not pass our first grade. A 1919 house does not bin it, and it does not pretend the mark is not there. We grade it, say so plainly, and price it accordingly.

The Imperfect rail
New, unworn, and honest about it.
The Guildhall capped Oxford in tan calf is £79 as an Imperfect. The same Oxford, without the mark, is £160 on this site today. Alongside it sits the Wilms derby at £79. Same leather, same construction, same box. Most marks disappear with the first polish. The price difference does not.

The Monkton, without a mark on it
Formal, without the laces.
If you would rather have the shoe with nothing to explain, the Monkton is our double monk in polished calf with gun-metal buckles: all the polish of an Oxford, fastened once and then simply worn. Full leather lining and insole, suede heel counter, island-stitched studded rubber sole. £139 until Monday, in brown or black.
