GLORIOUS GOODWOOD
The Goodwood Edit
|
|
Glorious Goodwood runs from 28 July to 2 August, five days on the Sussex Downs where the dress code shifts enclosure by enclosure. Three shoes carry a man through the week, from the formality of the Richmond Enclosure to a long summer evening after the last race. Here is how we would wear them.

|
I
The Guildhall
For the Richmond Enclosure.
A tan capped Oxford is the correct note for the Richmond Enclosure, where a jacket and tie are expected. Worn with a linen or seersucker suit it keeps the whole look sharp without turning stiff. Clean lines, a polished finish, quietly formal.

II
The Stokes
For Members Hill.
The smart-casual enclosures invite a little more character, and our tan brogue derby earns it. The wingtip detailing reads well against a blazer and chinos, and it is an easy shoe for a day spent on your feet by the rail.

III
The Ethan
For the evenings.
When the racing is done and dinner beckons, the Ethan suede loafer takes over. Soft calf suede on a light sole, easy to slip on and easy to wear late into a warm evening. The most relaxed of the three, and the one you will reach for long after the festival.
