Hi there -
Caramel lovers, this one's for you! Oh-so rich, oh-so buttery, this bestselling blend is a dark chocolate caramel for your mug. Boon Boona's Jebena Blend is roasty, yet balanced: a medium-dark blend of beans from Ethiopia and Cameroon (!!!) with a full, chocolaty body, a dash of nutmeg, and a lingering sweetness like a shot of caramel syrup pooling at the bottom of your cup. Delicious.

Curator's Notes:Cameroon! Where have you ever seen coffee from Cameroon before?? Boon Boona, whose mission is to celebrate coffees from across the African continent, has created a real treat with this blend. I haven't ever had West African coffee before now, and I always love the opportunity to try something completely new. Their Cameroonian beans are sourced from Chicago-based Kribi Coffee, whose founder grew up on a coffee farm in Cameroon. In this image, the coffee is on a background of Toghu fabric, which is a traditional woven fabric from Cameroon.
When we first started working with Boon Boona, Jebena's intense, chocolate-caramel profile and natural sweetness made this coffee one of our immediate best-sellers. In a specialty world where most African beans are lighter roasts, this is a great way to appreciate the roastier, more decadent side of the historical birthplace of coffee. Jebena, pronounced "JEB-un-na", is a traditional clay coffee pot found across the Horn of Africa - some historians believe that coffee has been brewed in jebenas since as early as 1100 AD! Coming from an Eritrean family, Boon Boona founder and CEO Efrem Fesaha grew up with the traditional coffee ceremony performed by Eritreans and Ethiopians, the way that many people from this region prepare their daily cup of coffee. In the ceremony, ground coffee and hot water are boiled together in the jebena, and the grounds are filtered out through a mesh made of horsehair. As a guest at a coffee ceremony, it's expected that you'll drink no fewer than three cups of coffee throughout the event - so go ahead, keep refilling!
Bottom Line: You'll love this coffee if you love dark chocolate, caramel sauce, or smooth, nutty flavor profiles.
