Curator's Notes: I think we started working with Tony's back in 2021, right when Roast Magazine crowned them 2021 Roaster of the Year. Straight from the beginning, their bestselling Cafe Carmelita was one of my comfort-coffee favorites. Especially this time of year, I can't get enough of this coffee: it's a rich and buttery medium roast, but it tastes more like a medium dark, with low acidity and deep notes of dark chocolate syrup and toasted caramel. Its soft acidity and rich profile makes it perfect for cold brew, which I happen to enjoy all year long... but when something cozier is required, this blend makes a delicious, hot-chocolaty cup of drip. And with a splash of milk, Cafe Carmelita transforms into a delicious faux-mocha; no additional chocolate needed. It's just the type of coffee for any morning, but especially as we head into cooler weather and crisper days.
But it wouldn't be fair to recommend Cafe Carmelita without a word about what makes Tony's special. The more you learn about Tony's Coffee as a company, you can't help but love them. Ever since they were founded in 1971, Tony's has made a name for themselves with their commitment to organic coffees, fair trade partnerships, and environmental sustainability. Bottom Line: You'll love this coffee if you're already looking forward to cozier weather, prefer coffee with a traditional, medium-plus roast style, or enjoy chocolate milk right out of the container (I won't tell).
