Curator's Notes: Our latest barrel-aged release is here just in time for Father's Day! This one might be my personal favorite yet. Our friends at Middlefork Roasters put a sweet spin on their chocolate-forward Colombian coffee by letting it age for 2 weeks in brown sugar bourbon barrels from a local distillery, and then roasting it to a bold, medium-plus profile. The result is smooth, deep, complex, perfectly boozy: think, one of those little whiskey chocolate truffles in coffee form, with notes of spiced brown sugar, roasty oak, and a smooth finish that lingers on your tongue.
If you've never tried barrel-aged coffee before, you're in for a treat! There's no alcohol in these beans, of course, but the flavor is big, round, and a little bit decadent, like your favorite after-dinner drink... with a built-in caffeine kick.
