Hi there -
Welcome Proud Mary! Born in Melbourne, Australia (home of the historic Federal Coffee Palace!) and roasting from Portland Oregon, Proud Mary is the official ambassador of Australia's vibrant coffee culture to the U.S. Their Angel Wings blend, a sweet, caramel-drizzled blend of Colombian and Salvadoran beans, might just lift you up to coffee heaven.
Tastes Like: Caramel, Toffee, Butterscotch
Why I'm obsessed: The coffee wonder from down under! I still remember how excited I was when Australia-based Proud Mary opened their first U.S. café in Portland back in 2017. And today? I'm even more excited... because now they're on Bean Box! Proud Mary has been doing things their own way since 2009, and I mean that in the best possible sense. They've built a reputation as one of the most original and unforgettable voices in specialty coffee, with long-standing, deeply collaborative relationships with producers around the world. Their cafes, in both Portland and Austin, are bright, culinary playgrounds that celebrate just how fun and delicious coffee can be. I met their co-founder, Nolan, while we were both on jury duty (the fun kind!) for Cup of Excellence. His passion, personality, and coffee knowledge were next-level, and it shows in every cup Proud Mary puts out. If you're new to the brand, I'm going to point you towards their sweet, caramel-drizzled Angel Wings Blend. Crafted from direct relationships in El Salvador and Colombia, this light-med roast is effortless to brew and even more effortless to enjoy. It works on pourover, espresso (flat white, anyone?) drip, and the flavor tastes like praline ice cream with caramel swirl, with a nice soft peachy acidity, and a rich, deep, butterscotchy sweetness. Nice, gentle orange citrus comes out in the finish. If you love your coffee black, but you also have a sweet tooth, Angel Wings is your new favorite blend, hands down. Join us in welcoming Proud Mary to the Bean Box fam - I feel very proud to have them!
Bottom Line: You'll love Angel Wings if you love caramel syrup on your ice cream, butterscotch hard candies, or ever wanted to recreate a caramel macchiato at home.
