So we are officially in week 2 of our 16 week road trip!
It's pretty nuts that over a week has gone by and we still have more than 100 days to go 😅
But! That's not what I'm here to talk about...
I'm here to talk about the power of 5 minutes...
We've had a couple long drives by now and I'll be the first to say- I do not do well sitting in one place very long.
One- because I get real antsy.
Two- because I get all stiff and I HATE that feeling.
However...
It only takes me 5 minutes to move around a little to feel soooo much better.
We only get 7-8 miles to the gallon towing our camper (Juniper Skye)
So we wind up stopping for gas pretty often- Which isn't so nice for our wallets... but is incredibly helpful for the ants in my pants!
Because 5 minutes is really all it takes to reset the body.
And this might sound like an exaggeration but for real- I step out of our truck (Theodore Viscount) and can barely bend over and touch my knees.
After a minute of moving around I can get past my shins.
And by the time I'm done filling up the gas tank I can get down to my toes.
I definitely look a little weird filling my gas tank while shifting my hips all around...
But there's a 99.999% chance I have the best movement capability out of everyone who sees me and I just feel so much better after.
The old saying, "If you don't use it you lose it." Is 100% true when it comes to movement.
However, if you minimize the time between "losing it" and getting it back- You can get it back a lot easier.
___
And here's what I want you to do with this information...
If you have a job or routine that requires you to remain stationary for long bouts of time...
Take 5 Minutes Every 2 Hours (or more often if possible) to move around.
Don't just walk around- Do some movements!
Shift your hips, wave your arms- do what feels good in your body.
*Next week I will try to have a video example.
And if you have to go to the bathroom, or somewhere to do it so no one is watching you- do it!
Because it can seriously have a huge impact on your overall movement capability.
And moving well is the foundation to living well.
