Bouclé sounds like a Gallic sneeze. It's a ridiculous word, and a truly lovely fabric - the perfect one to cut an autumn Overshirt in.

The name comes from the French for "looped". The yarn has tiny loops spun along its length, which gives the cloth its nubbly surface and traps warm air between them.

Ours comes from a mill in Italy, and it has the weight and substance the season requires.

We've cut it boxy, with two patch pockets on the front, a herringbone under-collar that shows when you flip it up - à la Cantona - and a locker loop at the back.
