Article Icon 1Strangers Save Idaho Wedding Day

Erich Thalacker and Kyla Dickey had planned a mountain wedding at South Fork Lodge in Lowman, Idaho. After taking wedding photos in the Sawtooth Mountains, a crash closed Highway 21, cutting off their route back to the lodge with the ceremony about an hour away.

Erich, dressed in a three-piece suit, approached Garrett Kerr, a stranger returning from an elk hunting trip, as they waited at the highway closure. He asked how long the road would be closed. “We’re not going to be able to get through with the vehicles,” Garrett told him, “but I’m going to get you to your wedding.”

Garrett pulled out a small electric pit bike from his hunting trip and enlisted a woman named Jessica with an ATV. Together, they helped the couple travel 16 miles around the highway closure and back to the lodge. The bride and groom arrived with messy hair and a story no one saw coming.

“I remember just, like, looking at her and seeing the mountain backdrop and just being like, ‘This is awesome! Like, this is my wife. We're gonna live a long, awesome life together,’” Erich said.

They call each other sisters. Triplets Lennon, Aubryn, and Nolan Werner and twins Harlyn and Aislyn Rudolfi were born three days apart in 2018 and spent their first weeks in the same NICU in Pennsylvania. Eight years later, the five girls are inseparable.

This summer, they set up a lemonade stand and raised more than $2,300 for the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest NICU where their stories began. Among their customers was Becky Salter, who worked as a bedside nurse at the NICU when the girls were born.

"We do get a lot of donations but it's just something different when it comes from kiddos who started with us," Becky said. "It's full circle. It's really cool."

The "Lemonade Girls," as they're known, had another fundraiser planned in October. "We have no doubts that those girls are going to do incredible and big things," mom Elizabeth Rudolfi said.

Article Icon 1Officers Save Toddler's Birthday

Two Phoenix police officers showed up to take a scam report and left a father in tears for a very different reason. The DoorDash driver had lost his last paycheck to a phone scam. He had already paid rent and his car payment. There was nothing left, and his daughter's second birthday was the next day.

Officer Tanner Schnieder noticed the little girl sitting in her high chair eating. "I look in and I see his daughter, and then it hits me," he said.

The father sent over a few items he wanted for his daughter. Tanner and his partner, Officer Alessandro Figuccio, headed to a store, found what he asked for, then kept going. They filled a cart with clothes, toys, and a small pink bicycle with tassels, paying for everything themselves. When they brought it all back, body camera footage captured the father breaking down at the sight of the bike, then giving the officers a hug.

For Tanner, the gesture was personal. He said his own family had been in a similar position before. "We just started throwing stuff in the cart," he said. "If I was his daughter, I'd be happy as heck."
