Dear Three Nails Family,
As Thanksgiving arrives again this year, my heart is full of gratitude. Many of you know that I lost my Dad at the age of 59 the day before Thanksgiving in 2020. This year marks five years without him here, yet this time of year continues to remind me of him in the most powerful ways.
Some of my favorite childhood memories are waking up to the aroma of his cooking filling our home. The turkey slowly roasting, his sausage stuffing sizzling, the wild rice, and those perfectly creamy mashed potatoes he had mastered. But more than the food, what stays with me most is the way he displayed the love of Christ in our home. He never wanted anyone spending Thanksgiving alone. Neighbors, extended family, anyone who needed a place, he opened our door to them.
Before dinner, he would gather us together, hand in hand, and lead us in prayer. He taught me what it looked like for a man to lead his family spiritually, with humility and gratitude toward our heavenly Father. I did not know back then that our Thanksgiving in 2019 would be the last one we shared on earth. That reminder has shaped the way I approach this day ever since.
I share this with you because Thanksgiving offers us a sacred pause. A moment to slow down, release what has been heavy, and be truly present with the family and friends God has blessed us with. My prayer is that whatever burdens you have been carrying today would be surrendered into God's hands. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)
May the grace, love, and presence of our Lord Jesus Christ surround you and your loved ones this Thanksgiving. I love you all.
